This is the start of my collection of burned CDs. A lot of these I got from a thrift store but I did burn some of them myself.

AFI - Sing The Sorrow

I have no idea how I managed to go through my emo phase in middle school without ever hearing of AFI. I would have loved them. I love them now but still. They are exactly the kind of band I would have liked back then, and they seem to be popular with emos. I finally decided to listen to this CD after asking people for emo music similar to My Chemical Romance but not Panic at the Disco or Fallout Boy. Someone suggested I listen to Sing The Sorrow because it was similar to Three Cheers. I don't know if I agree with that but I am glad I listened. This was a few months after I got the wallet of burned CDs that had this album, so I figured I should listen because I already had the CD. I would love to own this officially someday. They recently reissued it on red and black vinyl...

Sing The Sorrow is an amazing album. I haven't heard everything AFI did before this, but from my understanding this was a very different direction. Everything about this album works. The guitar playing is very good and fits the songs perfectly. I love the vocals as well. I really like when rock albums incorporate pop elements, and Sing The Sorrow does that extremely well. There are also strings in Death Of Seasons and I really like that. More rock albums should have strings. There is also a 15 minute song that closes the album which is not something I have seen a lot in emo music. Overall, I 100% recommend Sing The Sorrow, especially if you are interested in this kind of music.
