311 - Transistor
Obtained: Sometime in 2024 at a christian thrift store
Thoughts: I don't really like it. I have only fully listened to it once so my opinion might change. I bought it because it was a dollar and I like their self titled. I actually saw the self titled at that same store and didn't get it because I didn't know what it was. I should have just gotten it. I didn't learn my lesson afterwards because I have passed up interesting dollar CDs since then.
Obtained: Sometime in early 2022 at Walmart
Thoughts: It's ABBA. You can't really go wrong with that.
I don't really like Does Your Mother Know and I think
Summer Night City should have been on here instead but I
assume the former charted higher. Summer Night City
was on Volume 2 though so it classifies as a hit. Everything else is good. It's a good CD to put on when I don't really know what to listen to.
AFI - Sing The Sorrow
Obtained: Sometime in 2024 at Goodwill
Thoughts: This album is great. I still can't believe I found it at Goodwill. Easily my best thrift store find. This is what I said about it before I got the real CD and was listening to my burned one. I still agree with this. I have no idea how I managed to go through my emo phase in middle school without ever hearing of AFI. I would have loved them. I love them now but still. They are exactly the kind of band I would have liked back then, and they seem to be popular with emos. I finally decided to listen to this CD after asking people for emo music similar to My Chemical Romance but not Panic at the Disco or Fallout Boy. Someone suggested I listen to Sing The Sorrow because it was similar to Three Cheers. I don't know if I agree with that but I am glad I listened. Sing The Sorrow is an amazing album. Everything about this album works. The guitar playing is very good and fits the songs perfectly. I love the vocals as well. I really like when rock albums incorporate pop elements, and Sing The Sorrow does that extremely well. There are also strings in Death Of Seasons and I really like that. More rock albums should have strings. There is also a 15 minute song that closes the album which is not something I have seen a lot in emo music. Overall, I 100% recommend Sing The Sorrow, especially if you are interested in this kind of music.
Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
Obtained: February 2025 at a christian thrift store
Thoughts: I haven't gotten around to listening yet but I like what I have heard.
Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing
Obtained: Sometime in 2024 at a record store
Thoughts: I was really into this album in middle school. There are some great songs here, mostly the singles. Girlfriend hasn't aged well but it's still fun. Some of the album tracks are kind of boring but there's nothing terrible here. I love the designs on the sleeve. It's peak 2000's corporate edginess.
Avril Lavigne - Let Go
Obtained: Sometime in 2024 at a record store
Thoughts: I also really liked this album in middle school. This is still my favorite album of hers (to be fair I have only heard like 3).
The B-52's - Wild Planet
Obtained: Sometime in 2023 at a record store
Thoughts: This album is alright. There are some great songs, but overall I prefer their self titled by a lot.
Backstreet Boys - Millenium
Obtained: Sometime in 2022 at Goodwill, My sister gave it to me, December 26th, 2024 at Goodwill Bins.
Thoughts: I have 3 copies of this. I don't even like it that much. My first copy is the only copy I have with a case. I found a whole book of CDs at Goodwill Bins. I guess it was a very popular album to have in the 2000's.
The Beach Boys - Sounds of Summer
Obtained: November 2022 at Walmart
Thoughts: This CD was one of the first things I bought with money I earned from working. I was looking for The Beatles Revolver special edition which I did end up getting, but I didn't find it so I got some classic rock CDs instead. The music here is good. It's the hits from The Beach Boys so it's good. Their cover of Rock n Roll music is on here which is weird but everything else makes sense.
The Beatles - Anthology 2
Obtained: April 2024 at a record store
Thoughts: It's The Beatles. There is nothing I can say that hasn't been said a thousand times before. I like these CDs.
The Beatles - Anthology 3
Obtained: sometime in 2024 at an antique mall
